The Bechem Fire Station officer ADO1 Clifford Ashie Teiko has disclosed that vehicular fires are on the rise in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo region, a situation he expressed much worry about.

Speaking in an interview with High Radio News, he revealed several signs that demonstrate if a car is about to catch fire explaining that when there is fuel leakages, electrical system failures, and battery fault, it can lead to a fire outbreak in the car and hence warned drivers to be cautious when they experience the above-mentioned indications of vehicular fires.

He offered safety advice that must be followed by drivers when they notice smoke in their car denoting that drivers must suddenly stop moving at a safe area where people may not be highly affected when the detected smoke burst into flames and ensure all travelers in the said car are safely offloaded.

He added that drivers must call for assistance before they attempt to put off smoke in a car with their fire extinguishers stressing that if the smoke is detected in the bonnet, drivers must desist from immediately opening the bonnet without their assurance of being capable to put off the fire because once the bonnet is opened, it gives access to air (a contributing factor to fire outbreak) into the bonnet which will subsequently blow up the smoke into flame.
