US$9000 Found In Gomoa Okyereko Accident Car

Rescuers have discovered a sum of US$9,000 in one of the vehicles involved in the accident at Gomoa Okyereko, which claimed 16 lives.

The money was found in the bag of one of the accident victims and was later handed over to the Ghana Police Service.

The Winneba Fire Commander, DO II Kwesi Hughes, announced this while informing reporters of the accident’s aftermath.

He disclosed that the district police had received the money, phones and other personal belongings of the victims, which will be used as means of identification and claim.

The accident involved a Yutong bus travelling from Abidjan to Budumburam and a fuel tanker heading to Takoradi.

Forty victims sustained various degrees of injury.

Among the deceased persons was a baby.

Police, firefighters and emergency health officials were dispatched to the scene.

The deceased persons and the wounded victims were taken to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital and the Effutu Municipal Hospital.

Tow trucks have reportedly removed the damaged vehicles from the Accra-Cape Coast highway to ease traffic along the stretch.
