In a statement released by the Ghana Football Association, it has been confirmed that Thomas Partey will be unavailable for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Central African Republic (CAR). The team doctor, Prince Pambo, stated that the midfielder sustained a groin injury during training on August 31, 2023.

Club doctors have predicted that Partey will be out of action for a couple of weeks, ruling him out of the national team’s crucial match. This news comes as a blow to Ghana, as Partey is a key player in their midfield.

In response to Partey’s absence, coach Chris Hughton has named a 25-man squad for the upcoming game. The squad selection aims to compensate for the loss of Partey and ensure a strong lineup against CAR.

Ghana will be looking to secure a victory in the AFCON qualifiers to boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament.

The squad:

Goalkeepers

Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Richard Ofori
