Many of the best football players in the world have abandoned club football in order to compete for their nations at the African Cup of Nations.

In today’s football, contracts that offer such fame are frequently very profitable.

One of the most paid football players in Afcon is Mohamed Salah.

Famous athletes like Sadio Mane experienced a significant increase in pay after moving to the Saudi Pro League.

However, where in the top ten do people like Victor Osimhen stand?

This is especially true for some of the biggest names taking part in Afcon.

Well-known players with massive contracts at their respective teams include Victor Osimhen, Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez, and Mohamed Salah.

However, how do they compare to their peers?

Here are the current top 10 based on information from bettors.

Eduoard Mendy, a former goalkeeper for Chelsea and Senegal, sits at the bottom of the list with a weekly salary of £181,000 at Al-Ahli.

On a £187,000-per-week salary, Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao is ranked ninth.

At £211,000 per week, highly sought-after Nigerian and Napoli striker Osimhen comes in ninth.

Ah-Ahli star Franck Kessie, who is signed to a £230,000-per-week contract, is eighth on the list after shining for the tournament’s host nation, Ivory Coast.

Next up is £240,000-a-week Paris Saint-Germain player Achraf Hakimi, who missed a penalty as Morocco was knocked out of the Afcon in the round of 16.

With a salary of £250,000, Ivorian forward Seko Fofana, who plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, surpasses Hakimi to rank in the top five.

The legendary Salah of Egypt and Liverpool is paid £350,000.

Surprisingly, he is not even in the top three, as Senegal great and Chelsea disaster Kalidou Koulibaly earns £570,000 a week at Al-Hilal.

Next in line with a weekly salary of £657,000 at Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr is Senegalese player Mane.

Mahrez, the captain of Algeria and a former star of Manchester City and Leicester, is the highest paid player of Al-Ahli, taking home a weekly salary of £860,000.
