Where did we go wrong as a country in our educational systems?

The National Teaching Council (NTC) published on social media some scripts belonging to a number of teacher trainees who failed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination(GTLE).

I am seriously worried as a Ghanaian for so many reasons and that leads to the question, where did we go wrong as a country in our educational systems?

Which level of our educational system breed these failed teacher trainees into the system? Is it WASSCE or the tertiary institutions?

I do not trust the outcome of the published results by National Teaching Council.

How did those trainees pass their WASSCE and tertiary institutions Examinations and couldn’t pass NTC Examinations?

Can the NTC publish the marking scheme as well as the scripts of all those who passed the Examination on social media for the public to a fair idea of the situation so that they can react properly?

I remember last year, the same NTC wast taken to court by some teachers who suspected foul play?

Did those Teachers win their case?

What did the court say was the problem?

How long shall we sit down and allow these things to be going cynically?

Recommendations

I think the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination should be incorporated into the educational institutions for them to always conduct the examination.

All Civil Society Organisations should add their voices to this matter.

The parliament of Ghana should invite NTC to come and answer questions.

A committee should be set up to conduct a proper investigations into the matter.

Stakeholders in GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE should also add their voices.

A sensitive matter of this nature should not be left unattended.
