Paul Scholes, in the opinion of RIO FERDINAND, was a superior player to both Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

The former center defender spent 11 years at Manchester United with Scholes and competed with all three players at the international level.

Rio Ferdinand believes that Paul Scholes was superior to Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

Scholes’ total trophy haul equaled that of Gerrard and Lampard combined.

Out of the three teammates, Ferdinand, 45, said Scholes was the most fun to play with, praising his ability to both command and determine a game.

He said on The Obi One Podcast: “You know, it’s not easy.

“Scholesy was the player I most liked to play with. I could call Scholesy a name and hand him the ball. He would be able to locate them even if he didn’t look.

“He would do crazy stuff and even opposing players were going to me ‘does he do this every day?’.”

It seemed as though we were watching a performance at a movie theater. He could decide on a game, dictate a game, and improve other people’s play, which is what I admired about him.

“So, there are the parts that make you say, ‘Wow! No matter what, he would never be shaken. He seemed like a genius to me.”

Six Premier League titles and the Champions League were shared by Ferdinand and Scholes during their successful time together at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s excellent team was largely responsible for that.

Both Lampard and Gerrard outperformed Scholes in terms of goals and assists.

Ferdinand also discussed the reactions of his teammates to Ferguson’s retirement, saying that Robin van Persie was taken aback.

“The night before the news broke in the media, the WhatsApp messages started going crazy,” he stated. And in the morning, the manager’s departure is being texted by all of them.

“I will always remember that day. Everyone in the changing room was staring at one another as the air nearly evaporated.

“The manager was present when Robin Van Persie joined, and I recall that when I first saw him, he was on the verge of tears.

“He loved the gaffer, even if he hasn’t spent much time with the manager this season. The man was astonished.”
