The Bank of Ghana has asked the General Public to disregard reports suggesting that they are about to introduce a cybersecurity levy on all banking transactions.

Some reports suggested that there have been several cyber attacks locally and globally on Ghana’s banking system.

To build systems to help fight these attacks, the Bank of Ghana was said to have been working around the clock to introduce the levy which will mean that 1% will taken from all transactions.

But in a tweet reacting to the said report, the Bank of Ghana described it as fake indicating that the public should disregard it.
