After Arsenal’s contentious 1-0 loss to Newcastle last weekend, MIKEL ARTETA was a bit off-color during his post-match press conference.
Anthony Gordon’s match-winning goal in the 64th minute, which withstood THREE VAR reviews, was the cause of the Spaniard’s rage.

Four minutes and six seconds were spent on the various goal inspections, during which they attempted to determine whether there had been an offside or foul and whether the ball had left the goal in the build-up.
After the Tyneside match, Arteta may face a ban from the Football Association (FA). But what did the manager of the Gunners say?
Regarding VAR, what did Mikel Arteta say?
In his interview with Sky Sports, Arteta expressed his anger at the decisions made against his team during Arsenal’s match against Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
“I have praised my players for the performance and the way that we played – we didn’t deserve to lose the match,” the manager of the Gunners stated.
“The obvious and blatant decisions cost us the match. It is humiliating. It is a scandal. That’s exactly what it is—a shame.
Furthermore, Arteta made it plain that he would be pushing things further when asked if he would be airing his grievances with the PGMOL.
He replied, “Yes.” We’ll be using it for several months. We invest countless hours, and there is a great deal on the line.
“I am here to lead my team to the pinnacle of competition and to represent the football club.”
“There are very little margins. It is a scandal. It is humiliating. Everyone in that room (the dressing room) feels the same way that I do.
“You have no idea how many texts we have indicating that this cannot go on. I apologize, but that really is embarrassing.
What was said in Arsenal’s formal statement?
On November 5, Arsenal released a statement endorsing Mikel Arteta in the wake of his fervent tirade against VAR.
“Arsenal Football Club wholeheartedly supports Mikel Arteta’s post-match remarks following yet more appalling VAR and refereeing errors on Saturday evening,” the statement stated.
“We also want to thank our players and the out-of-town fans for their outstanding effort and performance at St. James’ Park.
“With the greatest players, coaches, and fans in the world, the Premier League is the best league in the world, and they all deserve better.
“PGMOL must immediately address the officiating standard and concentrate on taking action that frees us all from looking back and making excuses and attempts at justification.
“We support the ongoing efforts of Chief Refereeing Officer, Howard Webb and would welcome working together to achieve the world-class officiating standards our league demands.”
