President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to visit France on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit will see President Mahama participating in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, followed by high-level talks in Paris with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
The One Health Summit will bring together global leaders, health ministers, and experts to discuss pressing issues surrounding global health, sustainable food production, and coordinated responses to emerging health challenges. As the founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, President Mahama will play a pivotal role, co-chairing the high-level segment alongside President Macron.
During the summit, President Mahama will deliver two keynote addresses. The first, at a meeting on global health architecture, will be co-chaired by President Macron and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The session will focus on reforms to global health systems and a political declaration aimed at strengthening international health cooperation. The second address will be delivered at the opening of the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where President Mahama will outline Ghana’s stance and commitments on global health security.
Following the summit, President Mahama will visit the Élysée Palace on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, for bilateral talks with President Macron. The discussions will center on enhancing Ghana–France relations and exploring collaborations in health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Ahead of the talks with President Macron, President Mahama will be received by Gérard Larcher at the French Senate.
This visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and France, positioning Ghana as a key player in global health discussions. The President is slated to return to Accra shortly after the bilateral talks.
