Poverty prevents Ghana’s Best Technical Student for 2023 from furthering her Education

In a shocking turn of events, Ghana’s Best Candidate in the Technical Programme in the WAEC Distinction Awards has not been able to further her education to the Tertiary level.

Akosua Adjei Boateng who completed Juaso Senior High Technical School and earned 8As is said to be an Orphan and has since she finished school been home.

Akosua Adjei Boateng aspires to Study Civil Engineering at the University if she can get the needed financial support.

Her story was made known at the WAEC Distinction Awards 2023; a scheme that awards students who excelled at the WASSCE.

Akosua hopes that benevolent Ghanaians will aid her to support her achieve her dream.

The WAEC Distinction Awards was held on June 13, 2024.

Master Amo-Kodieh Leonard Kofi Marton from St. James Seminary Senior High School for placing first in the 2023 West Africa Secondary School Exam (WASSCE) for school candidates both in Ghana and the best candidate out of the 2,327,342 candidates from five-member countries.

Winners on the night included:

1. General Arts – Laudina Adutwumwaa from St Monica’s Senior High School
2. Business – Kwasi Asare Adjei-Fordjour from St Augustine’s College, Cape Coast
3. Technical – Akosua Adjei Boateng from Juaso Senior High Technical School, Juaso- Ashanti
