The Alternative Dispute Resolution Officer (ADR) of Legal Aid Commission in Nsawam District Mrs Judith Awuah has state openly that, PNDC law 11 was made to regulate decease’s property without any Legal documents.
Speaking to Agya Otchere on Fawe 105.9Fm on Monsom political show, she elaborated that the partner of the deceased is entitled to whatever was left behind. The law’s structured beneficiaries are the children, the partner alive, any of the parent of the deceased before the customary family she said.
In addition, she said Estate is the property acquired by the deceased and according to the PNDC law, household chattels are given to the children and the partner alive.
Also, residue is the money left after paying off debt of the deceased and the cohabitating partner is entitled to whatever been shared.
Drawing the curtains down, she said any action by the family to seize the property from either the children or the parent, the law consider as a criminal case.
