In order to support the NPP’s parliamentary candidate in the byelection, Ernest Owusu Bempah, the party’s deputy director of communications, descended upon Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.
He was accompanied by Andy Owusu, an assistant to the NPP’s Chairman for the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wutumi), as well as organizers for the Asawase and Sekyere women.
He visited a number of drinking establishments and ghettos in Kumawu, Oyoko, and Besoro before being greeted with a rousing welcome from the young.
Later, he flocked to the Kumawu community park to see the championship football game that the parliamentary candidate had planned.
The Electoral Commission (EC) announced that the by-election to choose a new Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region is scheduled for May 23.
It came after the passing on March 27 at the age of 53 of the region’s former MP, Philip Basoah, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
