New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Director for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Tabitha Ayillah has thrown her weight behind Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the flagbearership contest of the party.
He is appealing to delegates to vote for him so that he not only changes the fortunes of the party but the country as a whole when he becomes President.
Ms Ayillah, who made the appeal on Bolgatanga-based URA Radio last week, noted that electing Dr Bawumia as flagbearer of the NPP is taking advantage of a golden opportunity to have someone who has all it takes to competently lead the party, and govern the country to accelerate its development.
“We are preparing for our Super Delegates Conference. And I want to urge voters [delegates] to do the needful and vote massively for our own Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He is the only candidate who can help not only the NPP but Ghana as a whole. He has so much to offer but we can never, ever miss this opportunity of getting a President that will change the fortunes of this country going forward.
He [Dr Mahamudu Bawumia] made a profound statement that years ago, there was an industrial revolution that we missed – there were so many revolutions that we missed. But we cannot afford to miss this current revolution which has to do with digitalisation. So I want to urge voters [delegates] to do the needful and vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” she explained.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its Super Delegates Conference on Saturday August 26, 2023 to allow selected delegates to select five out of the ten aspirants to the flagbearer position.
The National Delegates Conference would be held on November 4, 2023 to then select one person as the presidential candidate (flagbearer) of the NPP for the 2024 General Elections.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has enjoyed overwhelming support from the rank and file of the party, is widely expected to win the race as several polls have revealed but there could be an upset as formidable contenders such as Alan Kyeremanten and maverick Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong continue to make inroads in their campaigns.
