NICOLAS ANELKA has taken a new position as CEO of Umraniyespor, a Turkish football team.
When the 44-year-old left his position as sporting director at French amateur team Hyeres in 2021, he had been unemployed for three years.

After finishing 17th in the Turkish Super Lig last season, Anelka’s new squad was demoted.
They have only won six of their 19 games, and they are currently ranked 12th in the second division after an unimpressive debut.
Umraniyespor posted the following to announce their new hire: “Bienvenue, Professor!
“Our club has reached a consensus with Nicolas Anelka over the CEO role.
“We welcome Nicolas Anelka and wish him success.”
It will be the former striker for Chelsea and Arsenal’s responsibility to get Umraniyespor back in the top division.
After spending the 2005–06 season as a player for Fenerbahce, Anelka is back in Turkey.
And it seems like his return has delighted his supporters.
A fan of Fener remarked, “It was legendary for us.” I hope it is also helpful to you. Nicolas Anelka exists in a totally other realm.”
One person gushed, “Well done to the president.”
A third person gasped: “God bless you, we are waiting for you in the super league again.”
Another person said, “Well done on the congratulations. I think Turkish football will benefit from it.”
During his Premier League career, Anelka played for Manchester City, Liverpool, Bolton, West Brom, and Arsenal in addition to Chelsea.
On the continent, he also played for teams like Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
After serving as player-manager for a while at Mumbai City in India, the French international retired from competitive football in 2015.
After that, he worked at Lille’s academy from 2018 to 2020, prior to his employment with Hyeres.
