Hearts of Oak’s latest acquisition, Michael Awuah Mensah, has voiced his optimism about the team’s prospects for the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians narrowly escaped relegation last season with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Bechem United on the final day, finishing 14th on the league table.

Their underwhelming performance also included a 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup, adding to a challenging season.

Despite the setbacks, Awuah Mensah, who recently joined Hearts of Oak from Nations FC on a three-year contract, is confident about the team’s potential.

“We were hurt after falling short to Kotoko in the Democracy Cup. We wanted to lift the trophy to appease our fans after a disappointing season,” Mensah said.

He urged supporters to remain patient and optimistic. “I will urge the fans not to lose hope in the team. The fans should exercise patience. I believe the leadership of the club are working around the clock to make things better,” he added.

Mensah also emphasised the club’s ambition, stating, “No one should be surprised if Hearts of Oak wins the league. We can win the league. Hearts of Oak is a big club, so it’s no news if we win the league.”
