Dr. Rainer Akumperigya, a member of the legal team of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised party members in the Upper East Region to make a resounding statement on social media platforms, declaring “15 over 15” for the upcoming elections in 2024.

During a press briefing after a Health Walk organized by the Bolgatanga Constituency leadership on Saturday, October 28, 2023, Dr. Akumperigya emphasized the need for unity and solidarity within the NDC. He attributed the youth’s strong show of support at the Health Walk to the dissatisfaction with the current administration’s handling of the economy.

“The unity which is being demonstrated on the ground by the youth of NDC at the Health Walk is a direct response to the problems caused by the Nana Akufo-Addo administration. It has caused anger, despondency, and uncertainty in an otherwise stable economy that they inherited,” stated Dr. Akumperigya.

According to him, the upcoming elections provide an opportunity for the NDC to showcase their true strength and commitment to serving the people of Ghana. He stressed that the issues and priorities for the elections have already been defined by the current administration, and it is now up to the NDC to offer a clear alternative to the people.

“In the Upper East, we won 14 out of 15 seats in the 2020 election, which demonstrates our strength. For the Binduri seat that we missed, we promise the people of Upper East and Ghana that from today onwards, every member who believes in the spirit of the NDC should know that we are taking all the 15 seats, and that is the declaration we are making,” declared Dr. Akumperigya.

He further urged NDC members in the Upper East Region to actively engage on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, by declaring “15 over 15” to showcase their confidence and commitment to securing victory in the upcoming elections.

Dr. Akumperigya’s advice comes as the NDC intensifies its efforts to mobilize support and build momentum in the lead-up to the 2024 elections. The party aims to leverage its success in the 2020 elections and capitalize on the dissatisfaction felt by many Ghanaians.
