Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO and the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the NPP, has defended his claim that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievements surpass those of any other president since Ghana’s independence.
During a presentation in Kumasi on Tuesday, NAPO asserted that President Akufo-Addo has outperformed Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He reiterated this stance during a visit to Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, the chief of the Wasa Amenfi Traditional Area in Wassa Akropong, Western North Region.
NAPO addressed accusations of arrogance by emphasizing his commitment to honesty. He noted that politicians who speak the truth are often labeled as disrespectful, while those who lie are praised.
NAPO remarked, “As politicians, we engage in politics every four years. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been supported to fulfill his duties in Ghana. Unfortunately, my statements have been misinterpreted.
In my view, no government has shown more dedication and effort than that of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo since Ghana’s independence in 1957 under Kwame Nkrumah. When you tell the truth in politics, you are often seen as disrespectful, whereas lying is often praised. As your child and grandchild, I was not raised to believe in lies.”
