Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, has shared an ambitious vision to ensure that every corner of his constituency, including farms, will have access to the internet by 2028. Speaking during an interview on Asempa FM, Obeng emphasized the vital role that internet access plays in shaping the future of Gomoa Central and beyond.

“For too long, our rural areas, particularly on the farms, have been left out of the digital revolution. My vision is to bridge that gap, ensuring that by 2028, every person in Gomoa Central, whether they are working in the fields or at home, will have access to reliable internet,” Obeng declared.

He pointed out that internet access would not only make it easier for farmers to connect with markets, share best practices, and access vital agricultural resources, but it would also bring the wider community closer to educational, health, and employment opportunities.

Obeng’s vision aligns with national and global efforts to expand internet coverage to underserved areas. His plan includes the implementation of more internet infrastructure and strategic partnerships with tech companies and government bodies to provide affordable and reliable internet services to all.

The MP also stressed the importance of digital literacy alongside connectivity. Recognizing that internet access alone is not enough, Obeng aims to introduce digital literacy programs in schools and community centers to ensure residents have the skills to navigate the digital world effectively.

“By providing the right tools and skills, we can ensure that everyone in Gomoa Central can take full advantage of the benefits the internet offers. From small businesses to farmers, access to information and networks will unlock new economic opportunities,” Obeng said.

Local residents have expressed strong support for the initiative, with many hopeful that it will create job opportunities, particularly for the youth. Farmers, too, are excited about the potential to access real-time market prices, weather updates, and modern farming techniques.

As the nation continues to move towards a more digital future, Obeng’s vision represents a bold step in the right direction. By 2028, Gomoa Central could become a model for rural connectivity, showcasing the transformative power of technology in building stronger, more resilient communities.
