In a recent statement, John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasized the crucial role of neutrality among all stakeholders for ensuring peaceful elections in 2024.

Mahama reiterated the NDC’s unwavering commitment to fostering a peaceful electoral process, stating, “We are a party that upholds peace and rejects violence. Our efforts will be dedicated to ensuring that the upcoming elections transpire in a peaceful manner. However, advocating for peace should not preclude the pursuit of justice. It is imperative that we address any instances of electoral malpractice to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.”

He further emphasized the importance of engaging with those who may incite violence, urging dialogue and preventative measures. Mahama underscored the significance of neutrality within key institutions such as the Electoral Commission and security services, emphasizing that their impartiality is essential for maintaining peace during elections.

Mahama also called upon the peace council to take proactive measures in promoting peace and impartiality throughout the electoral process.
