Mad Rush for NAPO’s Seat as He Becomes Bawumia’s Running Mate

There’s a mad rush for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s seat in Manhyia South Constituency, Ashanti Region. He’s now Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), so he can’t run for MP again.

Since January 2009, Dr. Opoku Prempeh has been MP for Manhyia South (formerly Manhyia Constituency). Now, several high-caliber replacements want his seat.

Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, Kwabena Addo Amankwah, and Kingsley Bobsu-Kyeretwie all want to replace him.

It’s an NPP stronghold, but winning the party primary is key. The party will soon set a date for the primaries. Expect a competitive campaign from the candidates.
