Romelu Lukaku, a striker for Chelsea, has officially agreed to a season-long loan with AS Roma, according to both clubs.

The Belgian forward has fallen out of favor after coming back to Chelsea from Inter Milan in the summer of 2021, which led him to spend the prior season on loan at Inter Milan before coming back to Chelsea at the conclusion of the campaign.
Despite their evident need for a notable striker, Chelsea has decided to send him on yet another loan to the Serie A, where he will re-establish contact with manager Jose Mourinho.
“AS Roma is thrilled to reveal the loan acquisition of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. “Lukaku, 30, has joined the Giallorossi on a temporary basis until June 30, 2024,” Roma said on their official website.
The former Manchester United attacker, who will play his fourth season in Italy, has expressed his delight over the move’s successful conclusion.
“I’m excited and even more motivated to give my all for my new squad after the warm welcome I received from this club and its supporters. For the first time as a Roma player, Lukaku noted, “I felt the energy of the Stadio Olimpico as an opponent, and I felt the warmth of the Romanisti.
“It’s good to know that today, I’m a part of it. I recently had the chance to talk with the proprietors, and I was struck by how ambitious they were. Now we must toil, humble ourselves, and develop game after game. I, for one, am eager to be accessible to my teammates both on and off the field.
From the Belgian top division, where he played for Anderlecht before his significant transfer to Chelsea in the Premier League, Lukaku has competed in three different leagues. A portion of his career was also spent on loan with West Bromwich Albion and Everton before making the Toffees his new home permanently.
He continued to switch between Manchester United and Inter Milan before returning to Chelsea, where he is still under contract as of the summer of 2026.
