Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey played a pivotal role in Brighton and Hove Albion’s comeback following their defeat to Luton Town, securing a victory against Crystal Palace. Lamptey, aged 23, recently returned from injury, which unfortunately ruled him out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Under the guidance of Manager Roberto De Zerbi, Lamptey took on a starting role on the left side, a position where he has demonstrated efficiency throughout the season. In the 33rd minute, his well-executed cross found Jack Hinshelwood, contributing to Brighton’s 3-1 triumph. This marked an important performance for Lamptey, showcasing his impact on the field.

The opening goal came from Lewis Dunk 30 minutes earlier, connecting with a Pascal Gross cross. Shortly after Hinshelwood’s goal, Facundo Buonanotte added Brighton’s third, solidifying their lead. Despite Crystal Palace’s attempt at a comeback with Jean Phillipe Mateta’s goal in the second half, Joao Pedro, capitalizing on Danny Welbeck’s pass, restored Brighton’s three-goal advantage with five minutes remaining.

The match also featured the involvement of Lamptey’s compatriots, Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew, who played for Crystal Palace. Notably, Jordan Ayew lasted the entire duration of the game. Lamptey’s return and impactful performance contribute to Brighton’s positive trajectory in the season.
