Former Ghana defender John Mensah has praised Otto Addo for the impressive display of the Black Stars in June’s World Cup qualifiers.
Otto Addo, who was reappointed as Black Stars coach in March, guided the team to consecutive victories against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Before Addo took charge, the Black Stars had struggled, failing to win a game since November 2023, which had left the team disheartened.
Addo initiated a rebuilding phase by introducing younger and new players to the squad, a move that Mensah acknowledged as challenging but crucial for uniting the team.
“It wasn’t easy with how the team was before he arrived, but he’s succeeding in bringing the players together and from their performances in the qualifiers, I think they did exceptionally well,” Mensah stated, as quoted by Citi Sports.
Mensah, who captained the Black Stars during the 2010 World Cup and played a vital role in the 2006 team in Germany, emphasized the importance of trusting and supporting Addo, believing he will continue to lead the team to success.
