In response to the recent devastating floods caused by the spillages of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams, former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H.E. John Dramani Mahama, will be making a generous donation of relief items to the affected communities.
The donation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Sogakope in the South Tongu Municipality. Distinguished leaders of the NDC and the Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament will be present to carry out this crucial exercise on behalf of the former President.
John Mahama’s commitment to providing immediate humanitarian assistance to those affected by unexpected calamities is once again highlighted through this benevolent gesture. The relief items will be distributed to the following constituencies: North Tongu, Central Tongu, South Tongu, Anlo, Keta, Ketu South, South Dayi, Afadzato South, Kpando, North Dayi, and Asougyaman in the Eastern Region.
Furthermore, in solidarity with the flood victims, the NDC leadership will visit some of the severely affected communities and settlements after the donation ceremony. This visit aims to assess the situation firsthand, offer support, and provide assurance that the party remains devoted to alleviating the suffering caused by this unfortunate man-made disaster.
The Volta NDC, through its Regional Communications Officer, Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, expresses solidarity with the flood victims and reaffirms its commitment to taking necessary actions in order to mitigate their hardship.
