One of Manchester United’s 1999 Treble champions has advised the team to think about appointing a club veteran to take Erik ten Hag’s place in the meantime.

After a dismal first half of the season, the 53-year-old Dutchman is under pressure and is still the favorite to be the next Premier League manager to go.

The person Dwight Yorke wants to lead Manchester United has been named.

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford due to their dismal performance.

United has already been eliminated from the Champions League and Carabao Cup, and they currently sit eighth in the Premier League standings, 14 points behind leaders Liverpool.

There are persistent whispers regarding Ten Hag’s future, suggesting that the players are divided on the former Ajax manager and that he does not have the full support of them.

This week, however, it became apparent that he would not be fired this season because Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who paid £1.3 billion to purchase 25% of United on Christmas Eve, is preparing a thorough structural assessment that might take up to two months.

However, if the situation worsens, then all of that might change. Former United striker Dwight Yorke thinks Ratcliffe and the other chiefs ought to think about appointing a former player in the interim until they choose a long-term replacement in the event that Ten Hag leaves.

Though he mentioned the two players he wishes to see join, he also said that they should avoid Wayne Rooney following his brief miserable time as Birmingham City’s manager.

The 52-year-old Yorke stated to Footy Accumulators, “I don’t see any benefit in having Wayne Rooney take over as interim manager in the event that Ten Hag is fired.

Wazza shouldn’t be in that situation, especially not in front of me!

The possibility of appointing a club great as an interim manager must be considered, but in my opinion, the board should carefully consider Zinedine Zidane as the sole viable choice at this time.

“Take a look at his stature in the game and his accomplishments at Real Madrid.”

Yorke went on, “There aren’t many other options available; many of them have already been fully explored.”

Graham Potter is supposed to take over, but he’s already had an opportunity to work at an elite club.

“At United, managers from smaller teams should never pass up the chance to take over a large club. Elite teams should seize the opportunity because they have higher player expectations, revenue, and player standards.

Although there is a lot of strain, that’s simply part of what’s expected. A large club has better everything.

“Those arriving from smaller clubs should aim to go forward instead of backward. Graham Potter did not suddenly triumph at Manchester United; he had his chance at Chelsea. He failed miserably at Chelsea and failed to make an impact.

The manager of Brighton was then added by Yorke to the group of candidates who may replace Ten Hag, saying, “I think Roberto De Zerbi may have a chance, but that remains to be seen.”

“He’s a name to think about, but everyone else has already had a chance. Between Zidane and De Zerbi, I don’t see anyone else.
