Comedian Waris says he will only join a “Dumsor Must Stop vigil” if he is paid.

There are calls on Ghanaian celebrities and influencers to hit the streets of Ghana to demonstrate over the intermittent power supply in the country.

But speaking on Accra-based United Television, Comedian Waris was emphatic that he will only join such a vigil if he is paid.

He argues that in Ghana organizers of such demonstrations are known to have some financial backing from very high places so he will demand money before he joins any form of demonstration.

He sees his presence at the vigil or demonstration as a partnership rather than public service to seek for accountability.

“If they call me and there is money, it is on a good course. It is for a good course that there is light for us to work and get money. If they call me and they tell me they want to partner with my brand I will join them. Fixing the light is a good course and the lord’s work. My issue is that if I’m being selected by a company then I have to be paid.

“Let’s say for example if I decide to join Ola Micheal for a demonstration, I will have to take money before I present myself for such a demonstration. This is because I don’t know where Ola passed and the kind of money he has taken from the powers that be to organize such a demonstration.
