The member of parliament for Berekum East constituency of the Bono Region, Honorable Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh has promised to provide avenues that will improve football and other sporting-related activities to boost the economic situation of Berekum East and its surrounding communities.
The Member of Parliament made this assertion during a Sod cutting ceremony held at Berekum Kato M/A School Park for the construction of Astro Tuff for the people of Berekum East. The project which is funded by Ghana Gas is awarded to Blaze Investment Company Limited, a construction firm to ensure the construction processes of the project are well executed.
Speaking to Angel News, the Berekum East MP, Hon. Nelson Kyeremeh indicated that the contractor has promised to hand over the project within a 6months period Adding the project after its completion will augment economic activities within Berekum East and its environs because as sporting events go on, people will seize the opportunity to sell food and other product which will fetch them monies to expand their businesses and cater for their families as well.
The contractor for the project, Mr. Alhaji Jibrem Tanko disclosed their readiness to complete the project on the stipulated 6months period. He indicated that they are going to construct a standard turf with floodlights which will make way for football games to be played at night.
Finally, Mr. Randolph Stephen Armah, Berekum East Municipal Sports Unit Committee Chairman expressed satisfaction with the project and added that the project after its completion will unleash pressure on the Berekum Golden City Park because as Berekum Chelsea uses the Golden City Park, other Lower tiers can also use the astroturf for a successful football and other sports competitions.
