HON. DUKER VISITS ELECTROCHEM GHANA LTD, ADA
Hon. George Mireku Duker – MP, Tarkwa-Nsuaem. writes,
On Wednesday, August 8, 2024, I once again, undertook a working visit to Electrochem Ghana Limited at Ada Songhor. Under the auspices of the Group Chairman, Mr. Daniel McKorley, we held stakeholders meeting and toured the sites as well.
I was very impressed with the company’s massive support from the Traditional Authorities.
The company which has invested over US$80 million, created over 2,800 jobs in a space of three(3) years is highly commended and must be supported by all and sundry.
With significant investment in establishing a washing plant and a salt refinery under construction, Electrochem is poised to become the largest salt producer in Africa in the next two(2) years and compete globally in five (5) years time.
The expansion of infrastructure, to add value to the salt produced for domestic and industrial uses is projected to create more jobs and more revenue to State and Local governments.
I am Glad to indicate that, Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) has projected an investment of US$30million into Electrochem Ghana Limited’s operations and the latter will soon be listed on the Ghana Stocks Exchange to further deepen local participation in the business.
Government will continue to support such a generational project, and therefore, call on all and sundry, especially, residents of Ada and its environs to support the success of this business.
I was accompanied by Advisor on Mines, Mr. Benjamin Aryee, Chief Inspector of Mines, Mr. Kofi Adjei and other officials.
