As part of efforts in ensuring that residents in Accra remain fire safety conscious post the Easter Season and beyond, Fire Safety Officers under the auspices of the Greater Accra Regional Fire Command (GARFC), have been deployed into slum communities and other public places within the Accra Region to sensitize residents on fire prevention.

The GARFC targeted the Slum areas mainly because of their high fire risks. Fire outbreaks went up from 10 in last year’s Easter season to 13 in this year’s Easter season and thus has culminated in this intensified public fire safety campaign in slums and other public places in the Greater Accra Region after the Easter festivities.

The GARFC is poised to continue with its intensified fire safety awareness and sensitization campaigns in all public places to reduce fire outbreaks and its impact on residents in Accra.
