Group entreats parents to provide sanitary pads to girl-children

Women and girls face numerous challenges with regards to their sexual and reproductive health as well as accessing services. Although there are efforts to improve educational opportunities for girls, one of the challenges they face is menstrual hygiene management and other pubertal changes.

It is reported that, some girls stayed away from school for up to five days in a month during their menstrual period. This setback leads many to fully withdraw from school altogether.

With this, Potters Aid Foundation, a Non-governmental organization has entreated parents to provide sanitary pads every month as an additional responsibility for their girl-children to relieve them of the need for that menstrual product.

They made the call when donated over 250 pieces of sanitary pads to some teenage girls at Nsuaem Methodist and D/A school in the Bosome freho district of the Ashanti Region.

Some students beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Potters foundation for the kind gestures.
