On Friday, May 12, 2023, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, along with Members of Parliament for Weija Gbawe, Hon. Gifty Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah and Hon. Sylvester Tetteh, Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom, and their respective MCEs Hon. Patrick Kumor and Hon. Nyarni Joseph, paid a visit to the families affected by the recent Faana river disaster.
Assurances and Support for Affected Families During the visit, the dignitaries assured the families of their commitment to bear the cost and assist with the burial preparations for their lost children. Additionally, the MPs pledged to purchase a boat and life jacket for the community to use as a safe mode of transportation, which will be supervised by the two Municipal Assemblies. The tragic incident was deemed unfortunate, and all parties present discouraged anyone from politicizing it for political gain.
Prioritizing Safety of Children The Regional Minister urged the community members to prioritize the safety of their children and always ensure that they are safe, especially when crossing the river, which is the only means of transportation.
The visit provided some comfort to the grieving parents and families who had lost loved ones in the disaster, and they appreciated the government’s support during this difficult time.
