Presidential Staffer, Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye, attributes positive economic shift to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s steadfast leadership.
In November 2023, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) reported a notable decrease in the inflation rate from 35.2% in October to 26.4%. This achievement, according to Mr. Aboagye, exemplifies the resilience and dedication exhibited by the current government in fostering a more robust and stable economy.
Optimistic Outlook for 2024
Expressing confidence in ongoing efforts, Mr. Aboagye predicts that Ghana’s inflation rate will further decrease to under 16% by the year 2024. He specifically credits the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia for steering the nation in the right direction.
Factors Behind the Drop
The GSS identified food inflation as a key contributor to the decline, with a 12.6% decrease to 32.2% in November 2023. Non-food inflation also saw a reduction to 21.7% from 27.7% in October, further emphasizing the positive trajectory.
Concerns in Specific Divisions
While the overall inflation rate showcases improvement, certain divisions, including Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics (39.0%), Personal Care, Social Protection and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (35.4%), and others, recorded rates higher than the national average.
Mr. Aboagye’s Reaction
In response to these developments, Mr. Aboagye issued a statement affirming the effective leadership of the government. He emphasized the courage and commitment demonstrated by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia in mobilizing resources during challenging times.
Building Resilience Amid Global Challenges
Mr. Aboagye acknowledged the unprecedented challenges faced by nations globally, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the immense disruptions to the global economy, he commended the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia Government for steering Ghana towards progress and stability.
Confidence in NPP Government
In conclusion, Mr. Aboagye expressed confidence in the National Patriotic Party (NPP) Government, contrasting it with the opposition, and asserted that the nation is in capable hands. He highlighted the government’s commitment to overcoming crises and fostering a resilient economy, concluding with a message of gradual but steady progress: “Slowly but steadily we shall Rise.”
