Private schools in Ghana continue to play a significant role in the nation’s education sector, yet they are often overlooked in government budgetary allocations and policies. This concern was echoed by the Director of Sweet Home Academy and Assembly Member for Kasoa American Town Electoral Area, Hon. Shadrack Boakye Yiadom, who has appealed to government to consider private institutions in its educational policies.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Sweet Home Academy, Hon. Boakye Yiadom stressed that private schools not only help reduce unemployment but also ease the pressure on public schools. He urged government to extend support by waiving certain taxes, providing basic learning materials, and introducing incentives that would enhance the contribution of private schools to national development.

“Parents should make the education of their wards a priority, as it is the most valuable inheritance they can leave behind,” he advised.

The guest speaker, Mr. Fredrick Kitson Attabra, delivering an address on the theme “Soaring Beyond Limits – Embracing the Future with Courage and Purpose,” urged parents to refrain from imposing career choices on their children. Instead, he encouraged them to guide and motivate their wards to pursue professions that align with their passions and talents.

Both speakers emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government, parents, and educators to ensure that Ghana’s educational system continues to grow in quality and accessibility.
