English-born Ghanaian defender, Kelvin Abrefa has inked a new two-year deal to extend his stay at League One side Reading FC ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The 22-year-old who started his career with the Royals at the age of 12 extends his stay at the club until the summer of 2026.
Abrefa rose through the ranks at Reading and made his senior debut in 2022 in a Championship game against Coventry.
The versatile right-back is expected to play a huge role in the upcoming campaign as Reading eye a return to the Championship.
“We’re delighted to secure Kelvin to a new two-year contract,” said head of football operations Mark Bowen.
“There was, understandably, plenty of external interest in him so we’re very happy that Kelvin’s chosen to continue his development as a Reading Player.”
Abrefa joined the team’s pre-season last month as Reading intensified their preparations ahead of the new season.
Reading will play Woking, QPR, Cardiff and Hull City in pre-season friendlies before the season starts.
