In the opening game of the UEFA U-16 youth development tournament, Ghana defeated Serbia 4-0 on Thursday.
The Black Starlets dominated the game with four first-half goals, leaving the Europeans unable to recover from the early onslaught.
Great Corinthians forward Benjamin Tsivanyo scored a hat-trick within 17 minutes, while Theophilus Nii Adjertey Adjei added the fourth goal, completing the rout.
Tsivanyo scored the first goal from a spot kick in the third minute after being brought down in the box.
Ghana continued to add to their tally, with Afirim Debrah Bossman setting up Benjamin Tsivanyo for a tap-in to an empty net in the 13th minute.
Four minutes later, Tsivanyo completed his hat-trick after being put through by Asumadu Ramsey.
In the 44th minute, Yaw Yiriyon Gideon smashed in a free kick from the edge of the box, further increasing Ghana’s lead.
While the tempo and intensity of play dropped in the second half, Ghana still held on to their 4-0 lead as Serbia failed to score any goals.
The Black Starlets will face off against Spain in the tournament’s second game on Saturday, April 15.
