Gbawe Residents Demand Action After Two Children Drown in Dead Trap Drainage System

Residents of Gbawe Zero Machandi estates in the Weija Gbawe Municipality are calling on the municipal assembly and authorities to urgently fix a drainage system that has claimed the lives of two children. The drainage, which has been eroded by constant water flow, poses a significant threat to residents and drivers.

The residents, who have been complaining about the issue for two months, are frustrated that no action has been taken despite their reports to the MCE. They warn that the situation is getting worse, with the running water eating into the main road and exposing them to danger. They fear that any future rain could cut the road in two, leading to another disaster.

The residents are urging the Assembly and government to fix the problem before another disaster occurs. Administrator for Keep My Word Cathedral Light house chapel, Ms. Rev. Selasie Wemegah in an interview with BKB has also appealed to the Assembly to come to their aid and fix the situation, warning that if authorities fail to act, it will create another disaster.
