Former President Mahama Donates Medical Equipment to Dodowa Hospital on 65th Birthday

On the occasion of his 65th birthday, former President John Dramani Mahama demonstrated a heartwarming act of generosity by visiting the Shai Osudoku District Hospital, where he made a significant donation of vital medical equipment. The donation was delivered in response to an urgent appeal made by the Medical Director of the facility, Dr. Kennedy T. C. Brightson.

The donation included two state-of-the-art incubators, two phototherapy machines, and four CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines, contributed to address the critical needs of the hospital’s medical department. Mr. Mahama’s thoughtful gesture did not stop there, as he also provided essential food and non-food items to the patients, nursing mothers, and the dedicated hospital staff.

Expressing his gratitude for the prompt response to the appeal, Dr. Brightson shared that the equipment arrived unexpectedly soon after being requested, in testament to the efficiency and compassion of Mr. Mahama’s outreach. Accompanied by his family and staff from his Office, the former President extended his appreciation to his wife and the Lordina Foundation for facilitating the acquisition of the crucial medical equipment. He expressed, “I am very happy to return to my favorite hospital environment to celebrate my 65th birthday.”

The Shai Osudoku District Hospital, inaugurated in April 2016 by then-President Mahama, is a testament to his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for Ghanaians. Under the initiative to establish first-class health facilities in every district, the hospital was the first of six district hospitals to be commenced during his tenure.

In addition to the medical equipment, Mr. Mahama contributed 150 bags of rice, 50 bags of sugar, detergents, soft drinks, water, biscuits, cooking oil, school bags, and baby diapers, further exemplifying his dedication to serving the community and uplifting the lives of those in need.
