Eugene Arhin, the Communications Director at the Presidency and aspiring Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Awutu Senya West Constituency, has vehemently refuted claims made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the constituency. The NDC had alleged that Arhin was utilizing state resources to fuel his campaign efforts for the 2024 General Elections under the NPP banner.
One of the points highlighted by the NDC was Arhin’s alleged use of a school bus owned by Senya Senior High School for campaign purposes. However, Arhin has categorically denied these allegations, labelling them as deceptive attempts to create unwarranted controversies during his journey towards securing victory in the party primaries and subsequently the parliamentary seat.
In response to the NDC’s claims, Arhin’s supporters released a press statement on August 10, 2023. The statement addressed the accusations and termed them as an exaggerated spectacle that holds little significance in the broader context. The statement also emphasized the lack of substance in the allegations and accused the NDC of spreading falsehoods.
“The unnecessary allegations of the Awutu Senya West NDC’s communication machinery against Mr. Eugene Arhin are a prime example of ‘Much Ado About Nothing.’ These claims, replete with haste and lacking substance, attempt to conjure a storm in a teacup, fixating on matters that bear no weight in the larger scheme of things,” the statement read.
Furthermore, Arhin’s supporters went on to debunk each claim made by the NDC, particularly focusing on the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the school bus for campaign purposes.
Addressing the broader context, Arhin’s statement expressed disdain for the NDC’s actions, labeling them as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and distract from the substantial issues that truly resonate with the people of Awutu Senya West. The release also painted Arhin as a forward-looking figure committed to the constituency’s development, and the NPP’s mission as a whole.
As the political landscape heats up in the lead-up to the 2024 General Elections, these allegations and denials underscore the intense competition and strategic maneuvering among various candidates and parties vying for power in the Awutu Senya West Constituency.
