Ensure personal hygiene and maintain hygienic environment to prevent filth induced infections – Disease Control Officer

 

The Disease Control Officer of the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Directorate, Madam Veronica Addai Sintim, has urged the residents of Dormaa Ahenkro and its neighboring communities to uphold personal hygiene and maintain a hygienic environment to avert contracting infections induced by unsanitary conditions, such as diarrhea and cholera.

 

She emphasized that while cholera has been a significant health concern in parts of the country, the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Directorate and the broader Bono region have yet to record any cholera cases. Therefore, it is crucial to sustain a clean environment and personal hygiene to prevent the onset of this ailment.

 

She disclosed that health facilities have reported cases of diarrhea, underscoring the importance of personal hygiene to prevent its escalation into cholera and other infections.

 

 

Madam Veronica Addai Sintim disclosed that malaria is the most frequently reported infection at health facilities within the Dormaa municipality, highlighting its prevalence among outpatient department cases in Dormaa Ahenkro and its environs. She emphasized their ongoing efforts to prevent the disease, noting that these endeavors have led to a reduction in malaria cases recorded in 2024 compared to those in 2023.
