Engage yourselves in farming, it is a lucrative avenue for money and profit making – Dormaa Central MCE advises the Youths
The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Drissa Ouattara has counselled the youths in the country to pursue farming since it is one of the lucrative adventures for making money in recent times.
Speaking to Newsmen at the Dormaa Central Constituency Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) during a distribution of over 20,000 cashew seedlings to farmers under the Planting For Export and Rural Development (PERD) program, he emphasized the benefits of farming and urged the Youths of the country to engage in the practice rather than chasing white colour job since that is a great avenue for profit making.
He explained that the Planting for Export and Rural Development since its inception in 2017 has seen a significant nursing of over 400,000 cashew seedlings for farmers in Dormaa Central Municipality stressing that it is a great policy to prevent famine and ensure food security.
He therefore pleaded with the Beneficiary farmers to follow the agricultural methodologies to enjoy the right plantation of the seedlings to yield a positive result for the expansion of the country’s Agric sector.
On her part, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Agriculture, Miss Cecilia Adoma Yeboah stressed that the PERD is mainly focused on planting and exporting of tree crops adding that it improves the financial ability of farmers and enhances good weather conditions.
She advised the farmer to plant in accordance with the directives of the Agriculture officers and must make good use of the poultry droppings to moisturize the soil for better output.
The Beneficiary farmers expressed appreciation to the MCE and the NPP government for their unwaivering support and promised to go by the agric directives for the betterment of their farming activities
