A few years ago, I was running one of the most visited blogs in Nigeria, according to Alexa rankings. My site attracted pure organic traffic from Google, reaching several countries due to my SEO expertise.

Despite the popularity of the blog, which I ran anonymously, the earnings did not match up. A few dollars here and there—barely enough to cover my responsibilities, let alone the lifestyle I desired. My cost-per-click (CPC) hovered around $0.10, sometimes slightly higher.

My friend Sammario and I knew there was more to blogging than the little we were making, but we didn’t know how to achieve it. That’s when we came across Fiverr traffic dealers who promised to boost traffic to our site for a fee, and in return, we’d earn about double what we paid. It worked—for a while. Then, our account got suspended.

Although the suspension was lifted after 30 days, that month of zero earnings hurt deeply. We later found out the suspension happened because the traffic dealer had been pushing bot traffic to our site. We were unaware of it at the time and had no clue how to handle the situation.

Then one day, I met a man who claimed he could teach anyone to make $5,000 a month from blogging. I thought he was crazy.

“Does this guy know how much $5,000 is in Naira?” I wondered. “Why is he interested in my N500K if he’s truly making that much? This must be a scam.”

I went into investigative mode, doing a background check on him and observing him from a distance for months. Finally, I decided to swallow my pride and enroll in his private blogging mentorship program. It wasn’t easy, but I knew I had to do something before pride sank me further into poverty.

That decision changed my life. While the man didn’t teach me everything I know today, his mentorship laid the foundation. It opened doors to deeper knowledge and helped me differentiate what works from what doesn’t after several trials and errors.

Today, my earnings have multiplied dramatically, and I’ve mentored a new generation of successful bloggers across the country.

If your blogging or content creation journey isn’t where you want it to be, you need to attend Creators Gathering at The Condo Events Centre on September 28th. Don’t let another year slip by. Learn from those who’ve made it.

Skipping such opportunities because you think people are just after your money will leave you blaming others for your lack of action by the end of the year. Life will keep teaching you the same lesson until you take responsibility.
