On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, briefed Parliament’s Assurance Committee on key commitments in the transport sector.
A major highlight of her briefing was the plan to install solar-powered systems in public buildings to support electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Madam Affo-Toffey, also the Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, responded to questions on previous assurances made to the House and addressed emerging concerns within the sector.
She further discussed the Ministry’s initiative to integrate renewable energy solutions into transport infrastructure, aimed at promoting the adoption of EVs in Ghana.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister provided an update on the expected arrival of 100 buses by April, a move designed to alleviate ongoing transport challenges and improve public mobility.
The Committee also engaged the Ministry on issues stemming from the recent protest by railway workers. Madam Affo-Toffey outlined the steps being taken to address their concerns and stabilize operations within the rail sector.
Emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to accountability and transparency, the Jomoro MP stated that engagements with Parliament are essential to ensuring responsive governance and tracking progress on key national transport initiatives.
