Prior to receiving a shocking ultimatum from Manchester City last summer, Cole Palmer claims he intended to remain there for the entirety of his career.
The intriguing attacker was informed by Etihad officials that he had to stay or go permanently, negating his desire for a loan transfer.

The 21-year-old then paid £42.5 million to move to Chelsea, and he says that his quick development there has “surprised” even him.
Palmer has since earned two complete England caps, and Blues manager Maurico Pochettino thinks the Argentinean wing star Angel Di Maria could one day surpass Palmer in skill.
In 16 Premier League games this season, the Manchester United player has eight goals and four assists. However, he squandered two excellent opportunities during Tuesday’s 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg loss against Middlesbrough.
And his joy with Chelsea’s victory has replaced any sadness at leaving Pep Guardiola’s Treble champions.
Palmer stated to Sky Sports, “I always wanted to stay in City.”
“My goal was to spend a year on loan, return, and be prepared for the starting lineup.
“But they told me that I had to stay or you would be sold; I couldn’t go on loan.”
Chelsea then gave me a call. I expressed my desire to visit Chelsea, and I’m thrilled to be here. I am really happy that I chose to come here.”
Palmer has been one of the mid-table Blues’ few consistent shining spots.
He continued: “To get in the team straight away and hit the ground running has surprised me, to be fair.”
