According to MOISES CAICEDO, Enzo Fernandez pleaded with him to sign with Chelsea for the summer.

Several Premier League clubs were vying for the transfer of the midfielder.

At Chelsea, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been developing a collaboration.

It was announced that Manchester United and Arsenal were interested before Liverpool’s £111 million offer was turned down by Brighton.

Boss Jurgen Klopp claimed that a deal had been done, only to be left with egg on his face when Caicedo rejected the Reds because he was hellbent on joining Chelsea.

With assistance from their previous record signing, the Blues were able to eventually thrash out a British-record £115 million swoop for Caicedo.

Fernandez said, “I called and told him that he had to accept and come because Chelsea is a great and ambitious club,” in an interview with Chelsea’s official website.

“And I have to thank God for giving me the chance to play alongside him at Chelsea because we all know the great player he is, but he is also a fantastic person, so I’m thankful he chose Chelsea.”

In January, the Argentine World Cup hero Fernandez was bought by the Blues for £107 million.

Caicedo acknowledged his talk with Fernandez, saying, “It was a nice chat.”

“I mean, one of the best midfielders in the world, a world champion, calling you…” It was a pleasure to receive that call, and he persuaded me to come.

“He stated there were many young players, it was a terrific club, and there was a sense of community here.

“I have always valued the camaraderie within a team because I believe that when there is that kind of bond, we can handle any challenge, no matter how big or small. I was therefore inspired to come here by that.

“I’m loving playing with him now, both in training and in rondos. We are never apart.

“So, I’m very happy and I’m trying to do things better every day, as Enzo said, to be a good example for everyone at the club.”

At Stamford Bridge, Caicedo, Fernandez, and Conor Gallagher have created a new midfield trio; N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Jorginho were all goners in 2023.

Fernandez begged Caicedo to come to West London with him.

In August, Caicedo committed to the Blues for a £115 million agreement.
