CAF Shakes Up Ghana’s AFCON Schedule: Black Stars Face Rescheduled Clashes with Sudan
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has adjusted the dates for Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sudan, adding a new twist to the Black Stars’ campaign.
Originally set for October 11 and 14, the fixtures have been shifted to Thursday, October 10, and Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The first leg will be played on home soil at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the second leg is scheduled for the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, Libya.
Currently, Ghana sits third in Group F, with only one point after two matches—a 1-1 draw against Niger and a narrow loss to Angola. With these rescheduled matches now in focus, the stakes are high as the Black Stars aim to rejuvenate their qualification hopes.
Why These Games Matter
The upcoming double-header is crucial for Ghana’s ambitions. A pair of wins against Sudan would propel the team back into contention and strengthen their chances of securing a spot at the tournament in Morocco.
For coach and players alike, the message is clear: deliver on the pitch, or risk missing out on AFCON 2025. All eyes will be on the Black Stars as they prepare to fight for their place on the continental stage.
