Barcelona are making significant progress in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s highly-rated winger, Nico Williams.

The Catalan giants have identified the 22-year-old as a key target for the summer transfer window and are prepared to meet his €60 million release clause.

A crucial step forward was taken when Barcelona’s director of football, Deco, met with Williams’ agent, Félix Tainta, in Zaragoza on Wednesday.

The meeting proved fruitful, with the two parties reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms for the Spanish-Ghanaian winger.

Barcelona are eager to finalize the deal swiftly, as Williams is currently on vacation following his impressive performances for Spain at the Euro Cup.

The club intend to incorporate the winger into their preseason preparations under new manager Hansi Flick before he returns to Athletic Bilbao.

If successful, this move would represent a significant coup for Barcelona, adding a talented and versatile attacker to their squad.

Williams, whose senior brother Inaki plays for Ghana, helped Spain win the European championship, scoring in the final against England.
