AsumiApa as in Awutu dialect means _Edwumapa_ in Fante and _GoodWork_in the English language.

This is Another Good Project which seeks to develop marketable, relevant and job-ready skills such as dress making, hairdressing, catering, welding, CCTV, Satellite TV, electric fence installations for the youth in Awutu Senya West.

The 20 ladies who were trained in pastries such as cake, meat pie, spring roll, chips, rough bans, and sugar crafts etc, graduated yesterday 15th July 2023, which was marked world wide as World Youth Skills Day

During the ceremony, graduands were made to produce samples of work to exhibit the skills they have learnt during the course period.

All the 20 graduands took home an oven and a start-up capital to enable them to start up their own businesses in their various towns or locations.

Under the AsumiApa skills training program, over 90 girls have been trained in dressmaking and hairdressing with each person taking home a standing hair dryer or sewing machine. About 45 men have learnt electric fencing, CCTV fixing, electronic gate fixing, fixing of satellite dishes etc.

The MP advised that they use the skills learnt to develop themselves and develop others to help reduce unemployment in the constituency. Skilled jobs are the only thing nobody can take away from you.

The CR NDC women organiser, Madam Faustina Lamptey, advised the graduands to continue to practice what they have learnt and be creative to be able to stay in business.

At the program, Hon. Ekow Panyin, the Central regional vice chairman of NDC amd former MP of Gomoa East admonished parents to put their children into skills training because it is the future of this country. He stated that it is not University education alone that can make someone succeed in life.

MP for Madina, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu who graced the program advised parents and everyone to take TVET Education seriously and that it is the driving force of the economy in this current dispensation of economic hardship. He went on to state that HE John Dramani Mahama is coming back to power and will need an MP who is visionary like Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui to partner to develop Awutu Senya West.

Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui who is the originator and sponsor of the AsumiApa Skills Training Program, promised to make the youth more independent by taking them through skills training in the coming weeks.

The Constituency Chairman, Captain Nathaniel Kojo Anderson, who was the chairman for the occasion ensured that the program outline and organisation were done nicely.

Other constituency executives present were, Osama Andoh, Latiff Abudallai, Adiza Seidu Antoh, Abeka Amissah, Mallam Hudu, Matilda Sokpor, Mama Zion and other branch members from Obrachire ward were all present to grace the occasion.
