Asiedu Nketia Assures Ashanti Region – “NDC Won’t Let You Down”

March 26, 2026 – General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has reassured the people of the Ashanti Region that the party will not let them down if given the mandate in the upcoming elections.

Asiedu Nketia, during a recent campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, emphasized that the NDC is committed to improving the socio-economic conditions of all Ghanaians, including those in the Ashanti region, which has traditionally been considered a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC General Secretary noted that despite the region’s historical allegiance to the NPP, the party is focused on delivering on its promises and ensuring that the people of Ashanti benefit from infrastructure development, better healthcare, education, and job opportunities. He encouraged the citizens to give the NDC a chance to prove their worth, citing the party’s track record in governance.

“Our focus is on the people. Whether Ashanti or any other region, the NDC is a party that believes in equality, justice, and the well-being of all Ghanaians. We will not let you down,” he asserted.

Asiedu Nketia’s assurances come at a time when the NDC is aiming to broaden its support base and bridge the political gap between itself and the Ashanti Region, which has been a bastion of NPP support for many years.

In a lively engagement with the crowd, he promised that if elected, the NDC would bring innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Ashanti, including tackling unemployment, providing better access to health services, and improving educational facilities.

Asiedu Nketia also took the opportunity to rally support for the party’s presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting his leadership experience and commitment to national development.

“We know the issues. We have the plans. And we have the vision for a brighter future,” he declared.

The NDC is looking to reclaim power in the upcoming general elections, with the Ashanti Region playing a pivotal role in the race. Whether or not the NDC can break the stronghold of the NPP in the region remains to be seen, but Asiedu Nketia’s message is clear: the NDC is determined to work for every Ghanaian, including those in the Ashanti Region.
