Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has disclosed the coach he cherished working with during his tenure with the Ghana national team.

Throughout his nearly two-decade career with the Black Stars, Gyan collaborated with numerous coaches, spanning both local and foreign management.

However, the 38-year-old has singled out French tactician Claude Le Roy, who led Ghana’s team from 2006 to 2008, as the coach with whom he felt most at ease.

“Among the many coaches we had, the one I felt most comfortable with, without disrespect to the others, was Claude Le Roy. He was very open to every player, instilling confidence in them,” Gyan revealed in an interview with Angel TV.

“Everyone has their coaching style, but Le Roy’s approach was distinct. He provided players with utmost confidence, empowering them to express themselves on the field while guiding them tactically,” he added.

Despite Gyan’s positive experience under Le Roy’s tutelage, he acknowledged his inability to repay the coach’s faith during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Gyan admitted that despite his efforts to play through injuries during the tournament, he was not at his best and even required hospitalization.
