Amuni Can Booast Of Galamsey Free Flush Point

At a joint investigation conducted by Kessben TV Community watch news crew led by Kobinah Acquah has uncovered two communities in the Western Region, Wassa Amenfi P3nsanom and Amenfi Amuni, that are successfully keeping galamsey at bay. According to local chiefs, community-led initiatives and traditional practices are the key to their success.

 

By prioritizing collective responsibility and ancestral traditions, these communities have achieved a safer environment and lower cost of living, offering a promising model in the fight against galamsey.

 

Nana Joe Ayisi, Chief of Dwurogu, has confirmed that his community has successfully rid itself of galamsey activities to protect the environment. He cited the devastating impact of galamsey on forests, water bodies, and farming activities, which had forced farmers to rely on sachet water for irrigation. Nana Ayisi praised the community members, particularly the youth, for their support in making the community galamsey-free.”

 

In a related development, the Assemblyman of amuni electoral area, Mr Kobinah Mensah was poised that the area is flush point free of illegal mining (Galamsey) activities in the community.

 

He mentioned that the community is ready in supporting the government effort to protect the environment from galamsey activities .

According to him, the youths are seriously engaged in farming, which resulted in bumper harvest plant that yield in good agribussiness in the district.

 

The untimely rainfall affect farm crops and its productivity.
